Moving DAY! Moving days are always eventful around here! Many of you know my Savannah moving day story. I think I may have even blogged about it.
Well, here is my Summerville moving story! On Saturday, September 20th (our 5 year ANNIVERSARY) we moved!
The first EVENT that happened when I decided to I come over QUICKLY to drop off a few things at the new house, it was around 1pm. I had to get back to the apartment by 3pm in order to nurse Cannon. Cannon's Nanny Maryanne was keeping him for me. Like a dummy I packed all his bottles away and they were nowhere to be found so I had to make sure I was back in time to nurse him.
I pull out of the driveway of of said new house and CRASH! Yes, CRASH! I backed into my neighbor's car that was parked in the road. We call police. Police arrive and it is now 2:30pm. He takes our driver's license, etc and goes to do paperwork. Comes back over and says "the good news is that you both live right here. The bad news is that I have to wait on another officer to get here because I do not have my notebook to do the paperwork." I began to freak out. Cannon was 15 minutes away, Maryanne did not have a car seat to bring him to me. There was no way for her to feed him. I asked the police officer how long it would take. He did not know. I explained that I needed to feed my son. He wanted to know if there was anyway Cannon could come to me. I said no. He said, "I am sorry." I began to cry and said "so you are going to let my baby starve?" So he let me leave the scene of the accident to go get Cannon. I go home, feed Cannon, come back, get accident report. Event #1 finished! What a GREAT way to meet the neighbors!
The second event and well, the real "CAT"astrophe! On Sunday, I was working in the kitchen, cleaning cabinets, unpacking. Oliver had decided to help by jumping on the counters and to the top of the cabinets. He hung out there most of the morning. Around 12:30, Brett, Cannon and I all went to BWW for wings and the Redskins game. We arrived back home around 6pm. Later that evening I asked Brett if he had seen Oliver. He said, " he is probably hiding under a bed somewhere. At 10 pm, still no Oliver. It was time for bed, I carried Graham downstairs to show him where his food was and began calling for Oliver. I hear a meow, coming from inside one of the cabinets. I open them all, NO Oliver! I then realize it is coming from the top of the cabinet but I cannot see him. I start to panick! There is poison on top of the cabinets, Oliver ate it and and now paralyzed! I climbed up there to look, NO OLIVER! But what to my eyes behold, a HOLE! Oh yes, a hole big enough for Oliver to fall into to! The hole is in the corner of two cabinets. I go get Brett out of bed. He comes down and tries to pull Oliver out but he can only barely touch him with the tips of his fingers. We then get a towel, hoping Oliver would grab on and climb out! No such luck, the poor cat could not move! I asked Brett if I should call the fire department, I actually asked this about three times before and during his decision to REMOVE the cabinet from the wall!!! Oh no, will it be glued to the wall? Will we be able to get it back up?
After removing 8- 6 inch screws and one very tired arm, Brett freed Oliver! He acted as if nothing ever happened! Brett said he wished that Oliver gave him an ounce of enjoyment for every bit annoyance!
