Bye, Bye Baby!

We are saying Bye, Bye Baby more and more each day. Cannon is growing so quickly.

Yesterday, we retired his "baby" car seat! He now weighs over 22 pounds and that is the limit for the Graco car seat! Here is his new "big boy" seat!

Here I am in my pajamas! Dad decided to put my new seat in the car and Mom had to take one last picture of me in it (right before she got all teary-eyed).

We Sing, We Dance,When We Play the Drum!

"We sing, we dance, when we play the drum! We sing, we dance, let's have some fun!" This is now the new song that we sing around here! This is one of the songs that this Leap Frog Drum plays and it is forever stuck in our heads. Oh YES, Brett is singing it too!

I am SIX Months Old.

This is Cannon's update letter that he mailed out this week.

He was a little late getting these out.

Hi Everyone!

I am now 6 months old! Mom weighed and measured me yesterday and…drum roll please...I weigh 21 pounds and I am 27 inches long! I am growing like a weed as they say down here in the south! I am still kind of baldy but it looks good on me!

I am rolling over like crazy, “inching” around on the floor (mom says I am going backwards but I am doing as I please). I also can hold my self up in a sitting position. I love eating books and my silver rattle is my favorite toy! I love Old MacDonald, that is my favorite song. I squeal, laugh and babble. Mommy still calls me her Little Monkey and Dad has MANY nicknames for me.

Everyone says I am happy and I like to smile at people. They really get a kick out of it. I am really starting to like my dad, that man is SILLY! However, could someone please tell him that that Brillo pad he wears on his face, HURTS!

I love to sleep on my tummy and two weeks ago I started letting Mommy sleep. I can sleep from 11pm-7am without nursing, most days!! I still love baths and splashing is so fun! The bathroom floor never needs to be mopped anymore!

Speaking of sleep, I no longer take my daytime naps in my swing! Swings are for babies and I am BIG! I like taking my naps in Mommy’s bed.

Everything I touch goes in my mouth, and I am learning that not everything tastes as good as sweet potatoes! Oh yes, I am eating now. I love sweet potatoes, butternut squash, and broccoli is okay. I have tried avocado, potatoes, apples, pears, zucchini, peaches and of course, bananas! Mom is making my food for now…I am enjoying my new tastes and getting messy!

Oh and for all you “doubters” Mom is STILL using cloth diapers and lovin’ it!

I recently traveled to West Virginia to meet some family. I think I was a hit! They loved me! I decided to be a good traveler and slept like a champ! Mom and Dad stopped a few times and let me get out and play! I got a TOOTH when we got back! My first one!! And, guess what NOW I have two!! Man, those teeth HURT!

I still have a playgroup that meets at our house and recently we have been enjoying the Sprinkler Park. I love water! Last weekend, Mom and Dad took me to the beach. My first beach trip! Uncle Ryan and Natalie went with us. I discovered my new favorite food, SAND! I ate handfuls and it was good stuff!

Well, I think it is time for my nap! I love you all and I hope to hear from you soon. I love to read… so send me some Fan Mail.

This blog is about our family, mostly our precious boys; Cannon and Sutton, but you will find it a window into our lives.

Brett and I met and fell in love over waiting tables at the Original Benjamin's Seafood Buffet in Myrtle Beach, SC. We dated for about 4 years and were married September 2003 at Litchfield Plantation. We lived in Savannah for five years and now reside in Summerville SC.

Our beautiful boys were born 2008 and 2010.

We are amazed everyday by the gifts that are our children. They are a reminder of God's unconditional love for us. Someone once told me that you cannot begin to understand God's love for you until you have a child and it is so true. God sent His Only Son to DIE for us. I am not sure we knew what kind of sacrifice that truly was until having children of our own.

We love the Lord and strive to live our lives in accordance with His will. We are not perfect. Yes, we fail daily but find ourselves back at the cross willing to try again.

Our firstborn son. He made me a Mommy, Brett a Daddy! He is beautiful...inside and out! He has a the most gorgeous blue eyes and dimple to match. This kid is going to break some hearts! He is our athlete. He loves anything with a ball. He already has a great baseball arm and can hit a golf ball over our fence! He is spirited and loving. He is a lover for sure! He loves to give hugs and kisses and to cuddle. He will just grab my face and give me a million kisses. He loves books and music and art! He knows more songs that I do. I joke he has music in his bones. I often hear him singing while playing alone. So cute. He has a great sense of humor already and he fills our days with laughter! Who knew having kids would provide endless entertainment. He is becoming an amazing big brother and already tells Sutton that he "loves him so much". He loves to drink chocolate milk. Loves eat pancakes, hummus, edamame, and peanut butter and jelly! He has a huge sweet tooth just like Daddy. He is already showing that he loves God and Jesus and even beginning to relate the things in God's word to our world. Amazing! He is fearless and cautious at the same time. He is often called a daredevil and is usually the first kid to jump, climb, and run.. with no regard to danger (He laughs in the face of danger!! Ha). But he is very cautious around new people. He is creative and imaginative and smart, loves to create and destroy, has more energy than you can imagine, loves to scream and laugh and RUN!!! Watch out, this kid will run away with your heart.
