Cow Appreciation Day 2012

Every year we look forward to appreciating our local CFA Cow. This year was no exception. We dressed up, met a few friends, ate free food and played. Are these kids cute or what?

Random Acts of Christmas Kindness

This year we decided to do a different kind of Christmas Countdown. We did random Acts of Kindness through the month of December. It was sooooo fun. Each day we read a scripture leading up to Christmas and we did "something" for someone else.

A few of our favorite things were:
1. Bought a gift card at Walmart and gave it to the person behind us.
2. Delivered cookies to firefighters.
3. Left a LARGE tip for our server.
4. Passed our silly straws and treats on or cruise.
5. Operation Christmas Child Boxes
6. Shopped for Salvation Army children and Angel Tree kids.

With each Random Act we gave away a little card that said "you are a child of God and we hope his blessing find you this christmas".

IT WAS SOOOOOOOO FUN! We cannot wait to do it next year. I didn't take any pictures, I wanted to be focused on the task.

I did take pictures of us creating these "blessing bags" to give to homeless men and women.

Flea

Flea is our little Elf from the North Pole, he stays with us through the Christmas season. Each night he travels back to the North Pole to report on how the boys behave.

Here are a few pictures of our time with Flea.

This first morning Flea arrived, he left a note for the boys. Cannon was so excited he took the note to church.

Sometime Flea seems to get into mischief at night. When he returns from the North Pole, he always lands somewhere new. It was a highlight of Cannon's day to find Flea. He woke up every morning and the first thing he would say is "Where is Flea?"

One morning we found Flea wearing a Super Hero Cape and he was stuck in our tree.

Another morning, he was in the playroom tree with Grinch Christmas ornaments.

He went potty in the downstairs potty.

Oh no! Flea got into our peppermint kisses for our cookies. I hope we have more.

On our way to the Disney Cruise Ship.

Reading to Jesse.

Countdown with marshmellows.

Cannon's favorite!! Christmas Eve, we woke to SNOW on our windows. Cannon was so excited. Flea brought back snow.

On this final morning, he also had a note for the boys. The note expressed how much he had enjoyed watching the boys and that Santa had decided to lift he powers for one time and they were allowed to each hold Flea and give him a hug. It was such a sweet moment. They had watched Flea all month without touching him and now they were so excited to touch him.

Cannon holding Flea for the first time ever.

First hug.

Cannon telling him how to hold Flea.

Sutton running from Cannon.

Its MY turn!!!

I didn't take a picture but on Christmas morning, Flea left a note for the boys with their Bible open to the real Christmas Story. He also left our wrapped Baby Jesus that we open every Christmas morning. Baby Jesus was the first gift to be unwrapped in our home.

Christmas Morning

Merry Christmas!! This year we were able to spend our first Christmas morning in our own home. While we missed seeing our extended family, I cannot tell you how nice it was to be able to spend the entire day in our home with our kids. Mimi was here to celebrate with us too.

I didn't take many pictures. I was to busy soaking it all in.

This was the ONLY thing he asked for this year. When he walked out and saw it he said, "Oh, its the truck I always wanted."

Christmas Eve

CHRISTMAS EVE!!!!!

This was our first Christmas Eve to be at our own home!! We were so excited to start some traditions with our little family.

We started our day, by making TONS of sweets!

Making Jesus's birthday cake.

Daddy making no bake cookies.

We baked all day and just hung out around the house. Christmas Eve night we went to the Candlelight service at our church, which just happened to be a family service. We had no idea what it would be like and we were NOT prepared to have both of our boys in the service. They were not prepared either having never sat in the sanctuary for anything other than music.

Brett and I were both a little stressed out. However, there were a couple of precious moments with Cannon. Twice during the prayer time while the instrumental was playing. Silent Night was playing at some point, everyone was sitting quietly, eyes closed and praying...when all of a sudden we hear a sweet little voice singing "Silent Night, Holy Night, all is calm, all is bright....". Yep, it was Cannon. Everyone around us turned to look at him. It was a precious little moment. After the service, many people came over and said how sweet it was.

We went back home for Honey Baked ham, potato casserole, and asparagus. Yummo. The plan was to watch a Christmas movie afterwards but we ended up watching "The Sound of Music" instead. Cannon loved it.

We made a HUGE Gingerbread man for Santa Claus.

Cannon and I mixed up some reindeer food.

The boys placed carrots and reindeer food out.

Then it was bedtime...
