ROAD TRIP!

We just pulled off our first major family road trip: 2000 miles, slept in 5 different places, saw family and friends and had a BLAST!

Our first stop, we spent the night in a hotel in Fancy Gap, Virginia. We woke up the next morning and realized we had missed several calls from Brett's mom. She was calling to check on us. Apparently, we had missed a major storm in which thousands of people lost power. Our plan was to go to the Lovelace reunion on Saturday and we learned that no one in West Virginia had power. So we headed to a local Wal-mart and stocked up on water and gas! Then headed to Beckley, WV. The reunion was great despite the HOT HOT West Virginia weather. I think it was cooler in South Carolina than in West Virginia and YES there was NO POWER. Regardless, of the natural disaster, the reunion was amazing and we enjoyed spending time with the Lovelace family! After the reunion, we drove to Cleveland, Ohio where we spent time with our dear friends, The Clintons. We stayed with them for several days. We went to Cedar Point and an Indians game and then just spent time together catching up. The kids really enjoyed plaing with each other.

Back in the car! Our next adventure took us to visit Brett's Uncle Bobby and Aunt Becky, Ben and the wonderful Aubrei (the boys are in LOVE with her). We stayed there, had a campfire, s'mores, the boys rode the gator, caught fireflies, walked down to the river and had a great time. We also ventured over to Cheasapeake, Ohio to see the boys Great Grandparents, Mary and Melvin Corder. This was the first time they had met Sutton. They seemed to really enjoy the boys, especially Grandpa Corder. I really wished we lived closer to them. It would make me so happy to have them as a constant in our boys lives. The highlight for the boys was when Grandpa had Aunt Barb pull out all of his latch hook projects and the kids each picked one to bring home. We did a little touring around Huntington and ate at the Famous Hillbilly Hotdog "restaurant"?

We spent a little more time at Becky and Bobby's before we headed to Huntington, WV to visit the Vance family and attend the Morrison 4th of July celebration.

They decorated cookies.
Did sparklers, snakes and smoke bombs before we went to the "real" fireworks.

Grampy's Christmas Celebration

I didn't get many pictures of Christmas at Grampy's but I can assure you we had FUN! We had lunch at Burro Loco, one of favorite spots in Myrtle Beach. Its tex-mex and of course they serve chips and salsa just not a mild salsa for my salsa loving boys. It was so sad watching Sutton try to keep eating it over and over and getting a spicy bite way to many times, then trying to clean his tongue off. :(

We took naps and Dad made chicken bog and butterbeans for dinner. YUMMO!!!! We opened gifts and headed back home.

Each year Dad decorates his yeard with tons of lights, blow-ups, etc for the Grandkids and it is so fun to walk through it all. Such special memories.

We gave Grampy a cornhole set.

Grampy gave the boys the cutest little blankets.

Memorial Day Weekend...Redneck Yacht Club

My Dad, aka Grampy, has a boat and when we visit Horry County it usually involves a boat trip. Here are some pics from our most recent adventure.

We always eat hotdogs on our boat trips.

Aunt Stacy gave this little guy a kit kat. :)
