A Bike for My Dad

Cannon has been saving his chore money for months to buy a bike for his Dad.

On Saturday, we went to Walmart to pick one out. He found the perfect one but we couldn't get it out of the rack. He was such a big boy and said, "I will go get some help." He walked over to the customer service rep with his little hands in his pockets and said "excuse me sir, I would like to buy my Dad a bike". The gentleman said, "which bike, son?" To which Cannon replied, "follow me and I will show you". I know this may seem like a simple conversation but he was so big on Saturday. I was so proud and so sad at the same time. For the record, he did not have enough money to buy the bike by himself but he has been diligently saving.

And I may have helped him a little.

Frankie's Fun Park

Happy Birthday, Daddy.
We took Brett to Frankie's for his birthday and he was literally teary eyed over the fact that Cannon was driving his forst go-cart. Very sweet.

Leadership Giving Day at Riverbanks

Looks like we had a great day at the zoo!!

This was our first time visiting the zoo with Daddy. Enterprise hosted a day at the zoo with a luncheon for top United Way donors. Cannon was so excited to show his zoo to Daddy. Our first stop...GIRAFFES! Then we had to see the Howler Monkeys.

Waterfall

When we went to Bryson City, we arrived the afternoon before our train ride, so we decided to go on a little walk to see a waterfall.

Sutton watched as Daddy and Cannon decided to get a little closer.

Daddy changed his mind. The freezing water and slippery rocks got him!

Stop and Smell the Flowers

We took Cannon to the driving range for the first time. He really liked it and hit tons of balls.

Good shot, Cannon!

Golfing Buddies.

This cracks me up! He carries his plastic golf clubs in his golf bag with his real ones. Cute!

I just love this child! He stopped in the middle of hitting golf balls to smell flowers.

Monster

We have created a MONSTER by taking Cannon to his first Baseball game. This kid talks about baseball all day! Demanded to watch baseball at 7:30 am this morning instead of Mickey Mouse. WHAT??? No Mickey Mouse Clubhouse??He had to settle for Sportscenter but was annoyed everytime the baseball highlights went off.

He yells/cheers at the TV. "Good pitch". "He missed it". "Good Hit".

Today, he watched someone slide into homeplate and he recreated the moment for me.

He took a Sports Illustrated to school today because it had a Braves article in it. He is now calling Baby Sutton, Baby Heyward. He made me "pinch" aka pitch forever tonight! Then Daddy got home and continued the game.

Before bed he demanded to watch more baseball! He walks around saying, "I play baseball. I hit it like Chipper."

Daddy is very proud.

Braves Game

On Thursday night we took Cannon to his first baseball game. He was very excited. I think Brett was even more excited. I am sure this was one of those moments that he has looked forward to since he found out we were going to have a little boy.

A future Braves player?

Ballpark hotdog. This is funny because he never eats a hotdog in the bun, ever! But he did at the game and loved it.

Had to snap a picture of the Chicken Lay Cow.
Yes, we gave him cotton candy! Dippin' Dots too! We had to make sure he loved the whole experience.
Licking those fingers.

Okay, now for the cutest video ever! He loved the game and we stayed until the end of the 6th inning. Much longer than we thought we would be able too. He really got into the whole experience.

At the end of the video he is asking "where is Chipper?"

We went back to the hotel and talked about our day. He told me all about the game and said that Chipper hit the ball and got a boo boo and cried. I think he did get injured while we were in the bathroom but not sure where Cannon got his little "story". He has been hitting his baseball in the backyard and saying "I do it like Chipper".

Boys Will Be Boys

Let me preface this story be saying that we do not pass gas in front of each other in our family. just go in another room. Yes, Brett and I have been together for almost 11 years and that's what we do.

So as soon as Cannon started to pass gas or burp we began to teach him to say, "Excuse me" and he does. We typically do not make a big deal about it or laugh, etc. Well, occassionally we laugh. Why is it funny when a two year old has gas but not a 33 year old?

Anyway...

Tonight (3/30/10) at Moe's I took Cannon to the potty. His friend, Harper, joined us. Cannon is the first of his friends to use the potty and he is very proud. He likes for his friends to watch. So he said, "watch me Harper, watch!" Harper is watching...

Cannon passes gas and he and Harper begin to giggle UNCONTROLLABLEY! Harper starts saying, "Cannon pooted, Cannon pooted". More laughter ensues! I have ever seen them laugh so hard. Cannon almost fell into the potty laughing. It was hysterical.

I looked away trying not to laugh and to get him to say excuse me. That did not happen, I almost fell onto the gross wet floor laughing.

I think I just got a preview of what my life will be like being the mom of two boys!! Will they inherit my husband's manners or will he find himself pulled to the dark side by Cannon and Sutton?

What is Our Little Monkey Been up to?

Lately, Cannon has just been cracking us up! I have been meaning to write these things down but keep forgetting...so this may be a random post.

-Cannon is calling his Daddy"Brett", all the time. I laugh every time, I probably should not.

-He asks for his sunglasses a lot, in the car of course but also when he wakes up in the morning and the light in the bathroom is to bright for him. He asks me to go to the car and get his glasses.

-He LOVES hanging out with "Joey/Dev". He asks for them all the time and talks about them as one "entity". This is how the conversation goes: "Where Joey/Dev? Baby River cries." He cannot mention Dev's little sister without saying she cries. Funny thing is she mostly SLEEPS. It is still funny when he says it.

-His obsession with his brother continues. He now places his hands on my tummy and moves them really fast and says, "Wiggle, Baby, Wiggle". He has also felt the baby move so he always puts his hands on my tummy and says that Sutton is moving even when he is not.

-He is AWESOME at using the potty. Potty Training with him was a breeze. He just "got it" and I think it is because he was just so ready. So wait, Mamas, until your kid is ready and hopefully it will be easy for you too. Hopefully, Sutton will be easy too. :)

-Tonight during bedtime, we were talking about the baby and I asked if he was going to play with Sutton when he comes out of my tummy. He said yes and then began to push and pull at my tummy, saying "Get out, Baby, get out!"

-Cannon can now "cook" his own pancakes. He has to be held up to put them in the microwave but he knows which button to press on the microwave.

-He LOVES chocolate milk and asks for it CONSTANTLY! He does it with a sweet little smile and a quick show of that cute dimple and then he says "please" and then shakes his head and says, "Yes, Mommy".

-He is really growing up. I took him to a Parents Night Out event at church Friday night and he did not even care that I left him. He also is now soooooo great about his new class at church. He really doesn't mind going now. It is so comforting that he likes school and church now. It is also amazing that so many people at our church know him, even people that I do not know. I love knowing that all these people are loving on my little boy.

-I love that he can have mini-conversations and when he WANTS to he can be very rational. WANTS to is the key.

-He can also be extremely irrational. Mainly when I have made the MISTAKE and let him stay out when we should be home and in bed! If we pass naptime/bedtime he lets me pay for it dearly. :)

-Since potty training he has become a bad sleeper again. He was sleeping from about 8 or 8:30pm until 6:30-8am. Now he wakes up to go "pee pee potty". On a good night he may wake up only twice but he needs help to go potty so that requires us to go in to him and then sometimes he wants to cuddle, or play or he is very upset/tired and has a hard time going back to sleep. He has also been battling his allergies/asthma/cold since January. I think this is contributing to his waking too. One night last week he slept from 8-5:30 and then the next night he went to sleep at 8pm and woke at 1am, 2am, 3am, 5am and 6am! ARGH!! It is killing me! On the bright side, I will be ready when Sutton arrives!

-Loves wearing his "crocky shoes".

-He now says, "Go away, Mommy and/or Daddy". He also says, "No way" when he doesn't want something or doesn't want you to do something.

-Okay, I know there is more and I will try to think of more things and let you know soon enough...

Pie in the Face

Recently, Brett was involved in a "pie throwing" fundraiser to benefit Crisis Ministries in downtown Charleston. He with three other Enterprise Area Leaders were the victims!! Employees paid $5 a pie and this is what Brett looked like.

Cannon was TERRIFIED of his Dad and Brett's City Manager, Kristen, who happened to be dressed in ALL yellow and looked like Big Bird.

He did enjoy throwing a couple of pies at Daddy!

He was an AMAZING sport and actually acted like he enjoyed it. Which was great, because not everyone acted the same way. I think he raised more money than anyone else. Not sure if that was because of his great attitude OR because he is SO loved. :)
