heartbreaker

tonight cannon made my eyes fill with tears twice.

first, he spotted a gun in the top of our closet. i am not a gun girl. hate guns. realy don't want them in my house. but that's another story.

anyway, he saw it and said, "Mommy, someone is in trouble they put a shoot gun in there".

i acted surprised and said i wondered how it go there.
he said, "It's Poppy's! Oh Mommy, I really miss my Poppy" and he had the most sincere and sad face ever. Oh my sweet boy!

Then we were in bed talking. Cannon was talking about the dogs at Gigi and Grandpa's house, "the bad dog, andy" and "buddy dog". he said he wanted to see Buddy dog. I had to explain that Buddy dog got sick and went to Heaven. His eyes filled with tears and he said, "I do not want him to go to heaven, now Andy will bite me".

:(

----

cannon has also said other memorable things recently...

"i will get those bad guys who hurt jesus. i will get them with my shoot gun and they will die".

seriously? while, i fact that he wants to avenge Jesus's death isn't so bad, what about killing the bad guys??? where do they learn these things?

i did explain to him that Jesus loves those bad guys too. and that if they tell Jesus that they are sorry, he will forgive them and let them come to Heaven. I guess it was a teachable moment.

which to cannon, going to heaven isn't all that great of a thought right now. he understands when someone/thing goes to Heaven we never see them again and he doesn't want to go.

even as an adult, knowing how perfect Heaven is, i don't want to leave my family. so i cannot imagine what it is like for him.

----

this morning he said,

"i love you mommy. i love sutton. i love daddy. i just love my family".

----

last week we were in the car singing "The Muffin Man".

I was singing, "Do you know the Muffin Man, the Muffin Man, the Muffin Man, Do you know the Muffin Man who lives on ..." (I looked back at Cannon) and he said "Divot Lane".

FYI: The song says "Drury Lane" but we live on Divot Lane.

i have been thinking about this bad guys thing - i think God makes them that way - warriors, defenders of their families, prepared to do what is right - i think we as parents just have to direct in correctly - cannon is awesome!
