New Things with Sutton

Over the last three days Sutton has awakened around 3am and I go in to find him sitting up. I remember this stage messing with Cannon too. He would sit up in the middle of the night and not realize that he should just lay himself back down. So he would cry and cry.

Sutton has also decided that he only wants to eat yogurt. Cannon also did this. I remember Cannon pursing his lips together if he did not see something white on the spoon. Sutton doesn't purse his lips he has found it far more successful to push (with all his might) the spoon away from his face.

Peace Out

Not sure about that fire!

Love these boys.

Happy Birthday, Cannon

How did you get to be THREE already? It seems like yeserday that we were celebrating your 2nd birthday and I was bracing myself for the terrible two's. Was this a terrible year? No way! Were there terrible moments? Sure! There have been moments when I wanted to scream, times when I did scream and times when I screamed even louder! But even with those moments I would say that this past year has been far more magical than terrible. MAGICAL is how I would describe it. Seeing things through your precious little eyes, watching your excitement when you experience things for the first time and for the 100th time.

You are full of life, a little comedian, sometimes a WILD CHILD, so smart, loving and affectionate. You are always asking about others if they are hurt or alone. You always want to make sure that every child and animal has it's Mommy.

You love Jesus and you know so many things about him already. You like to pray and always request that I pray for you when you are hurt or sad. Every night you remind me to pray when the lights go out. You even say your own sweet, little prayers. One that I really love is "Dear God, Thank you for making me. Amen".

You have become such a big boy. It makes me so sad to see you growing up. I wish I could keep you little forever. However, I love watching you grow up, you are so much fun!

There are so many things that I want to remember about you right now:
-We way you ask for "sood" instead of "food".
-They way you sleep on your side with your little head laying on both of your hands.
-The way you quote movies! It is hilarious. Tonight you were saying "Salsarita, Salsarita". I could not understand what you were saying and asked "who says that?" You said Buzz. So I realized you were quoting Buzz Lightyear and calling me "Senorita!"
-Every morning you wake up and ask for breakfast. When we ask what you want to eat you always say, "Pancakes and sausage and pancakes and chocolate milk."
-I love that you still want to be held.
-When I say I love you, you say "I love you too, Mommy".
-I love when I kiss you, you say "No Mommy, I kiss you" and you hold my face and kiss me on my lips.
- You are so competetive and always want to be the winner.
-You have an amazing imagination. You are always pretending and you love to play dress up. Just last week, you had all the couch pillows on the floor playing "Grampy's boat". Mommy, Daddy and Sutton all climbed on the boat, fell off the boat and even went swimming with you.

You are the most special, little three year old. Mommy and Daddy love you with all our hearts. Thank you for making us parents.

Milestones!

Oh My!

Tonight Sutton pulled/crawled/drug himself across the floor to get a Lightening McQueen! He has been moving around a lot but this was the first "crawl". He has this funny thing he is doing with his one knee! So cute!

Then he got his belly off the floor to the first time and was rocking on all fours!!!

Last, he pulled himself up in his crib!

So Funny! Want to be a Parent? Read this.

Lesson 1

1. Go to the grocery store.

2. Arrange to have your salary paid directly to their head office.

3. Go home.

4. Pick up the paper.

5. Read it for the last time.

Lesson 2

Before you finally go ahead and have children, find a couple who already are parents and berate them about their...

1. Methods of discipline.

2. Lack of patience.

3. Appallingly low tolerance levels.

4. Allowing their children to run wild.

5. Suggest ways in which they might improve their child's breastfeeding, sleep habits, toilet training, table manners, and overall behavior.

Enjoy it because it will be the last time in your life you will have all the answers.

Lesson 3

A really good way to discover how the nights might feel...

1. Get home from work and immediately begin walking around the living room from 5PM to 10PM carrying a wet bag weighing approximately 8-12 pounds, with a radio turned to static (or some other obnoxious sound) playing loudly. (Eat cold food with one hand for dinner)

2. At 10PM, put the bag gently down, set the alarm for midnight, and go to sleep.

3. Get up at 12 and walk around the living room again, with the bag, until 1AM.

4. Set the alarm for 3AM.

5. As you can't get back to sleep, get up at 2AM and make a drink and watch an infomercial.

6. Go to bed at 2:45AM.

7. Get up at 3AM when the alarm goes off.

8. Sing songs quietly in the dark until 4AM.

9. Get up. Make breakfast. Get ready for work and go to work (work hard and be productive)

Repeat steps 1-9 each night. Keep this up for 3-5 years. Look cheerful and together.

Lesson 4

Can you stand the mess children make? T o find out...

1. Smear peanut butter onto the sofa and jam onto the curtains.

2. Hide a piece of raw chicken behind the stereo and leave it there all summer.

3. Stick your fingers in the flower bed.

4. Then rub them on the clean walls.

5. Take your favorite book, photo album, etc. Wreck it.

6. Spill milk on your new pillows. Cover the stains with crayons. How does that look?

Lesson 5

Dressing small children is not as easy as it seems.

1. Buy an octopus and a small bag made out of loose mesh.

2. Attempt to put the octopus into the bag so that none of the arms hang out.

Time allowed for this - all morning.

Lesson 6

Forget the BMW and buy a mini-van. And don't think that you can leave it out in the driveway spotless and shining. Family cars don't look like that.

1. Buy a chocolate ice cream cone and put it in the glove compartment.

Leave it there.

2. Get a dime. Stick it in the CD player.

3. Take a family size package of chocolate cookies. Mash them into the back seat. Sprinkle cheerios all over the floor, then smash them with your foot.

4. Run a garden rake along both sides of the car.

Lesson 7

Go to the local grocery store. Take with you the closest thing you can find to a pre-school child. (A full-grown goat is an excellent choice). If you intend to have more than one child, then definitely take more than one goat. Buy your week's groceries without letting the goats out of your sight. Pay for everything the goat eats or destroys. Until you can easily accomplish this, do not even contemplate having children.

Lesson 8

1. Hollow out a melon.

2. Make a small hole in the side.

3. Suspend it from the ceiling and swing it from side to side.

4. Now get a bowl of soggy Cheerios and attempt to spoon them into the swaying melon by pretending to be an airplane.

5. Continue until half the Cheerios are gone.

6. Tip half into your lap. The other half, just throw up in the air.

You are now ready to feed a nine- month-old baby.

Lesson 9

Learn the names of every character from Sesame Street , Barney, Disney, the Teletubbies, and Pokemon. Watch nothing else on TV but PBS, the Disney channel or Noggin for at least five years. (I know, you're thinking What's 'Noggin'?) Exactly the point.

Lesson 10

Make a recording of Fran Drescher saying 'mommy' repeatedly. (Important: no more than a four second delay between each 'mommy'; occasional crescendo to the level of a supersonic jet is required). Play this tape in your car everywhere you go for the next four years. You are now ready to take a long trip with a toddler.

Lesson 11

Start talking to an adult of your choice. Have someone else continually tug on your skirt hem, shirt- sleeve, or elbow while playing the 'mommy' tape made from Lesson 10 above. You are now ready to have a conversation with an adult while there is a child in the room.

This is all very tongue in cheek; anyone who is parent will say 'it's all worth it!' Share it with your friends, both those who do and don't have kids. I guarantee they'll get a chuckle out of it. Remember, a sense of humor is one of the most important things you'll need when you become a parent

Nickname

Cannon has given Sutton a nickname. He calls him "Suts". It is kind of cute.

8 Months Old

Sutton,

Today you are 8 months old! It really seems like yesterday that I was awaiting your arrival. You are the sweetest little angel. You are always smiling and laughing. You are such a big boy and weigh over 22 pounds!

You started saying "Babababababa" and "Mamamaamama" last week. Basically, you have found your little voice and are becoming a little chatterbox. You are also moving around on the floor. You are SO close to actually crawling. Even though you are not officially crawling you some how manage to scoot and move all over the floor. If I turn my back you will be in a different spot every time. You have pulled up to your knees twice! Oh my, time to get the baby gates out!

You LOVE your brother. You think he is one of the funniest things ever. You are now eating 3 times a day! You love yogurt and HATE green veggies.

You just finished an antibiotic for your 1st ear infection and I actually think you are getting sick again. I really hope you do not end up with a string of ear infections like your brother.

You really like to take a bath. You splash like crazy! Your favorite toy seems to be my cell phone and you throw a tantrum if I take it away from you.

You use a sippy cup now but you are still learning how to use it. You have recently discovered that graham crackers are super yummy.

You are definitely a pacifer baby, which is crazy to me because your brother was not! You are not a very good nighttime sleeper but you take great naps!!

We are so blessed to have you in our lives, our sweet little Stink Bug!

Christmas Morning

Christmas at Mimi's

Every Christmas Eve for at elast the last 7 years we have spent at the Lovelace home. Christmas Eve was a little different this year. We still had a great time but we are were missing Poppy. He loved Christmas so much, delighted in getting the perfect gifts, spoiling Mimi and eating lots of junk. We all miss him so very much and cannot wait to see him again one day.

Uncle Sean's present was to big to wrap so Cannon decorated it instead.
