Drums

Today we hosted a little Drum Circle at our house. Cannon just loves playing the drums and I have wanted to get a little group together like this since our first Kindermusik class. I was a complete slacker and did not take any pictures but I did get a few cute videos of Cannon once everyone left. Enjoy...my little rock star!

Dancing King

We have a serious little dancer on our hands.

Yes, I am fully aware that my child is not wearing a diaper!

He likes not wearing underwear! I wonder where he got that from?

Cannon's Baby

Cannon just loves taking care of his baby.

Let's Pretend

Cannon is getting a little imagination and beginning to "play pretend" games. I already mentioned that he likes to play "baby". Well, yesterday he was pretending to eat imaginary snacks out of his clacker (instrument). He was also feeding me. It was really cute.

Baby

Last weekend, Cannon got out of the pool and I wrapped him in a towel and called him a "baby". He was all swaddled and I rocked him and said, "Daddy, look at the baby". Brett and I made a real fuss over our little baby.

Since then, he brings a blanket over and says, "baby, baby". He wants us to pretend! So sweet. So we wrap him up, rock him and say, "oh, baby"! He loves it and so I do.

I am treasuring these moments for I know they are numbered.

Breakfast

Watch me use a spoon!
Is he cute or what???

We are Mexican

We are a Mexican family (yeah, I know the politically correct term is hispanic) but we are a Mexican eating family! Anyone that knows me knows that I eat it at least ONCE a week. We are now turning our child into a mexican too! Here he is with his very own bowl of salsa. He loves to dip in the salsa and sour cream just like Daddy.
Look at how proud he is!

BUGS!

Cannon loves bugs. He giggles with delight when a bug crawls onto his finger. Yesterday, he found a beetle on our treasure hunt. He placed it is the treasure bucket only to pull it out, toss it onto the sidewalk and put it back. After several times, the beetle smartened up and hid in the grass. He was so upset. Finally, we encouraged him to leave the beetle alone. He walked away saying, "bye bye buggy".

(To be sung with the tune from Oscar the Grouch, "I love trash").

I love bugs.

Anything wiggly and wriggly and squirmy.

I love bugs.

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day, Brett. Cannon and I love you more than words could say. Thank you for providing for us and loving us always.

Happy Father's Day, Dad!
I love you, you are a GREAT Dad and I am so blessed to call you mine. Thank you for your loving heart and generous spirit.

Happy Father's Day to my Heavenly Father!
Thank you for loving me and sending your son to die for me. Thank you for giving me a wonderful earthly father. Thank you for giving Cannon an excellent earthly Father, as well.

I love you three "Dads" with all my heart.

Beach

We went to the beach today. Cannon was so brave in the water. He kept going deeper and deeper into the water and did not want ANY help. After being knocked over a few times though he decided that the sand was more his style.
Of course, no beach day is complete without a trip to Poe’s.

Cannon loves to dip his food. Here he is eating ketchup and fries but he LOVES sour cream and salsa too. Oh and his favorite is hummus. Although, he prefers to eat it with a spoon.

Please note the "mmmmmm".

Artist in Training?

Lately Cannon wakes up between 5:30 and 6:30 am ! That means that he gets a healthy dose of Noggin most mornings! Sometimes when he wakes up Brett takes him into the bathroom with him while he showers and gets ready for work. He also takes him downstairs for a little snack and even changes his diaper before bringing him back. This usually buys me about 30 more minutes of semi-sleep. I love it. Last week, Brett allowed Cannon to be creative while he was shaving. Here are a few pictures. Since our walls are still unfinished I did not take pictures of the walls, but trust me they are also newly decorated by our little artist in training.

Cool

1. Cutting your kids hair into a "mohawk". This is cool.

(I have had Cannon's hair styled this way many times and debated actually having it cut to sport a mohawk/fauxhawk all the time).

2. Coloring your kids mohawk green. This is still cool.

(Granted, Cannon will probably never sport green hair, but I appreciate the creative child/parent that does).

3. Piercing BOTH of your 7 year old son's ears. This is not cool.

Yes, this is what I saw at the park today. A gorgeous, 7 year old little boy with a green mohawk and two pierced ears. I do not find it cool to pierce your son's ears at this age. Pierced ears never really go away. There is always a "hole". I think that this kind of creativity should be reserved for when the "man" not "child" is old enough and rational enough to decide to get his ears pierced himself (oh and yes pay for it too).

I really wanted to suggest to the parent that the kid get a little "ink" to complete the look.
So what is your vote...is this parent cool or stupid?
(Oh and yes I know I need to eliminate the word stupid from my vocabulary, so that my son does not repeat it!)

Markers

Today I REALLY needed to get some work done. So I gave Cannon the markers and let him play. I was smart enough to do it outside on the patio, and while I was working at the table, he was still sort of unsupervised. The results...

I want my markers back, now.

Good thing I had a "play" outfit on.

Seen My Keys?

Last week, I lost my keys...or did I?

Here is where I finally found them.

Play Area

We have almost finished Cannon's play area. We just need sand for sandbox #2.

15 Year Reunion

A small group of us got together for a mini-reunion. It has been 15 years. I did not make it to my 10 year reunion so this was fun.

Tractor

On Friday, I went to see my Grampy at work. He let me sit on his tractors. I love tractors. I cried when I had to leave.

On Wednesday, my Grampy took me golf cart riding through the woods. I had so much fun. I even stayed with my Grampy while my Mom went to the store and I did not CRY!

Big

When I was LITTLE I climbed down the stairs on my belly.

But now I am BIG and this is how I do it.

Trip to Rock Hill

We traveled to Rock Hill for Katie's engagement party last weekend.
Cannon and Brett played in the pool when we got there on Saturday. It was so hot!

Cannon loves Buddy the Dog!

We went to Cosmos Cafe in downtown Charlotte for the dinner.

On Sunday, Cannon fed the horses before we left. Last time we visited, he was scared of the horses. He liked them this time.

Okay, kids, listen up! Want to eat a lollipop! Act like a wild man in the care when you have a 3 hour trip! You can get anything you want!!!
